Satori News for February 17, 2009

Seniors Project

On Thursday, February 19, 2009, Satori students traveled to Edgewater Center to visit with the “Seniors” for the annual Senior Project.  Students interviewed each Senior about their experiences when they were children.  Students inquired about how “green” the world was in the past with questions about energy, gardening, and transportation.  On March 12, the “Seniors” will visit us here at Satori for the culmination of the program.

Spring Break Child Care Camp

Child care will be available during Spring Break, March 16-20, 2009, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Satori for a minimum of  6 to a maximum of  8 students.  The fee per child for the care is $100 for the entire week which is to be paid to Satori by Friday, March 13.  The care provider will be Ms. Henriett Glant, who has been substitute teaching here. Please complete a registration form with Ms. Rinaldi  by March 1.

Mardi Gras Events

Satori students are registered to walk in  the Children’s Parade on Sunday, February 22, at 2:00 pm.  Please let me know if your child will be walking.  The students are making paper maché Sun Faces to carry with a sign:  “Satori Goes Solar”.   The route for the parade is from 27th down the Seawall to the Academy parking lot.  Line up should be by 1:00 at 27th and Q.  Students should wear jeans and a Satori tee shirt.  If you do not have one let us know.

During the Saturday, February 21 parade that goes in front of  the school, the parent committee has decided to sell hot dogs, corn in a cup, chips, coke and water from the front entrance facing 25th Street.  We will need to set up to sell before the parade and will need two volunteer parents each hour, one to man the table and one to be cashier. The committee will be prepping the food and keeping the sales table supplied.   We want to set up at 3:00 pm and begin selling by 4:00.  The parade starts at 6:30 so we think most selling will occur before and early.  We will stay open as long as supplies last.  In addition to helpers, we will need the following items: crock pots, coolers, dippers and tongs, can openers, extension cords, shop lights,  strobe or disco light, and folding lawn chairs.
