Let the Sun Shine In and Help Raise Funds for Satori Elementary!

Satori Elementary is proud to partner with Green Mountain Energy Company, Texas’ only electricity provider dedicated to cleaner energy. Purchasing Green Mountain Energy® electricity is one of the easiest things you can do to make a difference for the environment…even easier than recycling!

This April, Green Mountain helped make Satori Elementary greener by donating a 2.8 kilowatt solar array to the school. See the press release (PDF).The array is expected to produce approximately 5,500 kWh of electricity per year from sunlight, helping to conserve precious resources and reducing our electricity costs. Thanks to Green Mountain and Standard Renewable Energy, Satori Elementary will be avoiding about 7,300 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.

Now Green Mountain has generously offered to continue their support by making a $50 contribution to Satori Elementary for each person who signs up for Pollution FreeSM electricity! Click on the link below to support Satori Elementary and help protect the environment with every flip of the switch! http://www.greenmountainenergy.com/texas/home.shtml?ReferenceCode=WB6038
* This special offer is valid until August 31, 2009. Donation to be made after successful enrollment occurs and within 1-2 billing cycles.

Satori Playground Gets New Mulch, Landscaping

Thanks to all of those who helped get mulch for the playground and even worked Tuesday to get it into the playground.  Amanda’s dad, Tom, arranged for the project. Many thanks to you, Tom. Also, Zella’s dad, Fred, contributed. David’s dad, Dave, brought his mighty work tractor to scoop the mulch into the playground. Then David’s grandfather and his uncle; Natalie’s dad, Richard; and Tom spread the mulch.  Meanwhile, Doris and her mom, Annette did the landscaping with wonderful results. We now have a playground of excellent quality and that is safer than ever!

YOGA for KIDS is up and running with a full class of students enrolled.  The children had a wonderful time on Tuesday.  There were lots of giggles and laughing as they started and then things got intense as they tried more difficult moves. Thanks to Alexa and Romie’s grandmother, Deborah, for this great addition to Satori.

Our water fountain now has the new UV light system which destroys bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms after the five stage filtering system we already had.  We have healthy water here for the children!

There will be a meeting of the full Satori Parent Board next Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 6:00 PM.  Please come to discuss replacement of our board Treasurer.
