Satori students have raised $134 for the Animal Shelter so far. They wish to continue their fundraiser to try to raise $200. The shelter will put up a “giving tree” with a leaf named for each $100 donated. Our kids have set a goal to donate two leaves.Yoga for Kids will be suspended beginning this Wednesday, January 28, 2009, because our instructor, Debra Conrad, is not available until the Galveston Community IKE Recovery Committee has completed it’s initial plan sometime in March. We will plan for spring follow up activities.
The Senior Project has been planned to coordinate with our gardening projects. The students will travel to Edgewater in February and then in March Senior citizens will join us here.
February 9 and 10, Ms. Corley with a former Satori student, Jamar Soord, and Mr. George with one of his current middle school students from Weis will be traveling to Ft. Davis to film the new Ball State University electronic field trip on Buffalo Soldiers. The electronic field trip will be broadcast live with the students participating with others on February 10 and will be viewed by thousands of students across the nation. Ms. Corley and Mr. George wrote the curriculum for the lesson and Satori School will be acknowledged as instrumental in production of this field trip. Wednesday, January 28, 2009, is the Executive Board meeting at 5:45 to plan for next week’s Parent Board meeting on February 5. This is a reminder for the BBQ Committee and the Mardi Gras Committee to get together before the Board meeting on the 5th.
Students celebrated Chinese New Year in classrooms and art class on Monday. The Lower School also celebrated Australia Day on Monday with a presentation by Lizzie Dowling. Fairy bread was the treat! Thanks to Lizzie’s mom for helping the students celebrate.
Upper School will be taking a field trip to Ellington Field on February 3, 2009.
Thanks to Emma, Abbie, and Chloe’s dad for finishing the painting of our exit and entrance. It is looking great! Thanks for help with a Friday lunch time.
