Dear Satori Family,
As many of you know by now, Satori is reopening next week on Monday, September 29. After much work done by Richard and Dave (everyone else, thank you as well) has made our school habitable and after learning that the teachers were ready to come in on Monday and assess curricla issues – it seems logical to open it up for those who need to get back to a regimen. See more pictures of Satori after Ike.
Having it open will also allow us to possibly attract additional families whose schools have closed and/or will not be opening in the near and or near immediate future. NOTE: for all of you…if you know any families that have chosen Trinity and or Galveston Catholic in the past…please let them know that Satori is open, safe (has water, sewage and electrical power and bottom mold has been cleaned out) and remains the best school on the island and WE HAVE OPENINGS.
As of next week our classes will not be very large as we have lost a number of families and we have numerous families who are unable to return to their homes in their current condition. Many of the folks that are returning will not be back until mid and late October, some in November and some even later than that; but, they are returning. But, given that a number of families have had to make difficult choices that don’t include Satori, we will have space available and will need to recruit additional families to remain viable.
For those of you coming in next week – Angie has made herself available on Monday and Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. to be at the school and minding the children. The teachers will be there sometime on Monday morning and will be assessing their needs in order to begin offering our curriculum. We anticipate being able to start Wednesday, possibly Tuesday. But, the building will be open and staffed as of Monday. The executive board will be meeting to discuss how to handle tuition, childcare fees, etc. for those that are returning and for those who are not able to as of yet. Please stay tuned. if you know someone who should receive this who is not listed, please forward to them and forward me their address to add to master list.
Please also make a note of the following, for children returning on Monday (next week);
1) please send children to school in long sleeve shirt and long pants (or send with them) in case they do go outside or go on walk
2) please have your child bring: hand sanitizer, insect repellent
3) please also send your child with lunch and a bottle of water
For now, thank you for your efforts in getting our school back in order, thank you for desiring what it has to offer and i look forward to seeing you all again soon. Please let other parents know we are open!!!!
