Satori Mardi Gras Activities

Fifteen Satori students, parents, and friends decked out in Satori shirts walked in  the Children’s Parade on Sunday, February 22. The students made paper mache sun faces to carry with a sign:  “Satori Goes Solar”.   Zeke and Zella multi-tasked as they carried the Satori Elementary School Sign and threw beads to the many children and adults along the way.   Thanks to parents for walking and assisting.  Thanks to Stephanie for the great signs and suns!

During the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday. February 21  in front of Satori, our parents sold hot dogs, corn in a cup, chips, coke and water from the building entrance facing 25th Street.  We had a great volunteer crew of parents who did set up, sold, and cleaned up. There was a constant stream of customers who particularly liked the chili dogs!  Thanks to everyone for making the event fun and profitable.  Thanks also to those who loaned needed items.  We got in some good practice for the BBQ in May.  There are enough supplies left over to provide refreshments for the work day crews and for the student field day.

Spring Break Child Care Camp

Child care will be available during Spring Break, March 16-20, 2009, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Satori for a minimum of  6 to a maximum of  8 students.  The fee per child for the care is $100 for the entire week which is to be paid to Satori by Friday, March 13.  The care provider will be Ms. Henriett Glant who has been substitute teaching here. Please complete a registration form and return to your teacher  by March 1.

BBQ Apron Project

The BBQ apron contest is fast upon us.  Students have been asked to bring a rough sketch of their preliminary design to class on this Wednesday, February 25. During art class, students will discuss their work and then the designs will be sent home to be finished.  The final version must be completed and turned in by Wednesday, March 4th.  Judging will be done before the board meeting on March 5th.  Be sure your child puts his/her name on the back of their design.

Cylinder Gardening Project Needw Potting Soil

Our Cylinder Gardening project is under way.  Every student has his/her own garden cylinder and has planted the seeds. Now we are in need of additional potting soil for the children to add to the cylinders as the plants sprout.  Please place soil donations in the bottom of the gray storage unit by the entrance.
