MONDAY MEMO: August 30, 2010

From the Director’s Desk:

Greetings on this beautiful day!  Thanks to one and all who participated in the past two Saturday Parent Work Days—our campus has never looked better!  Our faculty and students are so very grateful for your efforts to make Satori shine!  Each Monday, I will share thoughts and news with you about the myriad learning opportunities taking place in every single classroom. Our first Museum Day last Friday certainly qualifies as an exemplary learning setting at Satori.

Our first Parent Board meeting of this school year will be Thursday, September 2, at Moody Mansion, beginning at 5:30.  Please plan to attend.  Babysitting will be provided at the school for $5 per child.  Also, teacher goals will be available in my office by Tuesday, September 7, should you care to stop by and read them.  September lunch menus will be distributed today.

One more reminder about parking spaces…and the lack thereof!  Please do not park in or block the City of Galveston’s parking spaces—we need to be good landlords!  Remember, too, that the first three spaces along the fence are for Satori faculty.

Our oldest are off to Moody Gardens tomorrow.  Additionally, Ms. Corley has received a grant from Colonial Williamsburg to access electronic field trips, so the world is at our fingertips!  Gentle Ben, the classroom “rodent,” is back in residence!  And Dylan Davison has a birthday on 9/1—happy birthday, Dylan.

PE News:

Be sure to have your child’s hair pulled back in a ponytail (if applicable!), or provide rubber bands on PE days.

ART NEWS:

Our “artists in residence” here at Satori will be participating in an art contest on Bolivar commemorating Jane Long.
