Stori Board Looks Great

Thanks to all parents for a terrific turn out at our Board meeting last Thursday, October 16, 2008.  Congratulations to Don Davison for his election as our new Treasurer!

Welcome to our new group of four year old students!  Lillie, Abigail, Chloe, and Nico joined Ms. Roy’s class for the first time yesterday.  They had a busy day from 8:15 AM to 1:00 PM.  We are thankful that Ms. Jimenez is able to increase her hours to give Ms. Roy a hand during the pre-kindergarten hours.

Congratulations to Ms. Corley’s Students, John and Doris, whose question was accepted and answered during their electronic field trip on Monarch Butterflies.  They asked the question, “What will happen to the Monarch migration as a result of Hurricane Ike?”  They were told that the migration would not be interrupted and were given details. As a result, Satori School was mentioned on this national e-field trip.

Welcome Stephanie Thomas as our new Art teacher. She jumped right into the job starting yesterday. Her students were quite enthusiastic. Please look for requests from her for materials to use for her art classes. Also, James Sturrock is returning to teach Spanish later this week.

Hot Lunches from the Kitchen are returning this week.  Those who paid in advance for the hot lunches may pick up where we left off and we will be taking new orders daily. Teachers have a record of the advance orders.  The menu for this week is attached to this newsletter. Parents who need access to a computer are welcome to use the one in the library outside of the office.

Our phone is back to normal so you may call on 409-763-7022 and the internet at satori@satorischool.net is another way to contact me regarding school business.  If you have a new number that you are using during this emergency share it with your teacher.

Satori Playground Gets New Mulch, Landscaping

Thanks to all of those who helped get mulch for the playground and even worked Tuesday to get it into the playground.  Amanda’s dad, Tom, arranged for the project. Many thanks to you, Tom. Also, Zella’s dad, Fred, contributed. David’s dad, Dave, brought his mighty work tractor to scoop the mulch into the playground. Then David’s grandfather and his uncle; Natalie’s dad, Richard; and Tom spread the mulch.  Meanwhile, Doris and her mom, Annette did the landscaping with wonderful results. We now have a playground of excellent quality and that is safer than ever!

YOGA for KIDS is up and running with a full class of students enrolled.  The children had a wonderful time on Tuesday.  There were lots of giggles and laughing as they started and then things got intense as they tried more difficult moves. Thanks to Alexa and Romie’s grandmother, Deborah, for this great addition to Satori.

Our water fountain now has the new UV light system which destroys bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms after the five stage filtering system we already had.  We have healthy water here for the children!

There will be a meeting of the full Satori Parent Board next Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 6:00 PM.  Please come to discuss replacement of our board Treasurer.

Remember that October tuition is past due.  Please keep up so you don’t get behind. If you have any questions just check with me. Phone service is being arranged at school in the near future with roll over of our regular number, 763-7022. In the mean time, you may use the cell number 409-939-9638 or the internet at satori@satorischool.net to contact me regarding school business.  If you have a new number that you are using during this emergency, share it with your teacher.
